I keep reading and hearing about it.
A Yankees vs. Phillies World Series is the ultimate nightmare for Mets fans. It's like choosing between cancer and AIDS. Both suck, and no matter who wins, you still lose.
Well, that's true and yet, not.
First of all, as a Mets (and Angels) fan living in Los Angeles, I can assure you that a Yankees vs. Dodgers World Series would be the ultimate nightmare for me. Thankfully that didn't happen.
Second of all, if you're a New York Mets fan, you do not root for the New York Yankees.
Ever!
Never ever never ever never ever under any fucking circumstances!!!!! You do not pick and choose depending on which team the Yankees are playing. NEVER!!!!!!!
I understand Met fans who don't want to root for the Philadelphia Phillies, a team that has emerged as the new rivals in the NL East and could end up repeating as World Series champions.
But the Atlanta Braves were the Mets' main rivals for many many years, and even played the Yankees in the World Series twice. Losing to them in both 1996 and 1999. If you were a Met fan, YOU STILL ROOTED FOR THE BRAVES TO BEAT THE YANKEES BECAUSE THEY ARE THE FUCKING YANKEES!!!
This is where some people may be confused. Why do Met fans HAVE to hate the Yankees?
- Because of the obnoxious arrogance displayed by both their longtime fans and their legions of bandwagon boobs and douchebags who feel that they are absolutely entitled to always win.
- Because of the sheer absurdity of "26 rings!!! 26 rings!!!" When the reality is, they have 7 rings since 1962, the first year of the Mets' existence. 7 is still a lot more than 2, but it's not 26. The last thing we need is "27 rings!!! 27 rings!!!" or... 8 since 1962.
- Because they are a team whose latest dynasty (1996, 1998-2000) was built upon performance enhancing-drugs, and the Mets LOST to that roided-up team in the 2000 World Series.
- Because Alex Rodriguez is another steroid-using lying cheating prick who is in love with both Kate Hudson and Derek Jeter's ass.
- Because of the lunacy of the "aura and mystique" horseshit.
- Because of the fucking Steinbrenners.
- Because in New York City, the media will always treat the Yankees as numero uno because they've been around since 1903, and as a result, have a longer history. Why should any Met fan be happy about that?
- Because while I don't believe that the Yankees "buy championships" as no team can do so, they definitely do attempt to buy postseason berths. What makes that unfortunate is that many Met fans believe their team has to follow suit and continually lead the NL in highest payroll, instead of constructing the best team period.
- Because Roger Clemens intentionally beaned Mike Piazza, and later threw a bat at him, you fucking forgetful fruits!
- Because the Yankees and their fans represent all that is wrong with baseball, and they are known as the "Evil Empire" for many reasons, some of which I've already mentioned.
Because they need to be humbled, forever.
If you are a true Met fan, you already know most of these things. You know that while another Phillies World Series championship is not exactly preferable, it's certainly and unquestionably the lesser of two evils.
Still can't root for the Phillies? Ok fine...
Root for meteors to hit both ballparks. Root for terrorism. Root for the swine flu to infect both clubs and make the games impossible to play. Root for Pilot Sully Sullenberger to make an emergency landing on Derek Jeter instead of the Kate Hudson river.
Only phony baloney bullshit fair-weathered faggot Met fans who have no real understanding or concept of Met fandom root for the Yankees.

Um, you must REALLY hate the Yankees and the Phillies. I don't see why you do. Did the players do anything to hurt you? You say If you're a Mets fan, that you don't root for the Yankees. So, why can't I root for the Yankees? I've been a Mets fan since I was six and I don't see why I can't and shouldn't root for them.
1) I can't speak on the behalf of the fans. What they do is their own business and some Yankee fans are ignorant, but NOT every yankee fan is like that. My boyfriend is a Yankee fan and he's one of the sweetest people I know.
2) Well, they already have 27. It happened. So what? We'll try again next year.
3 & 4) Yeah, you had people that did steroids, but why bother bringing it up like a dead record player? We know that they did it. The 2000 World Series is over with and we can't change it. I wish we won, but the Yankees did. If everyone stayed focused on the fact that A-rod did steroids or some other player did it, do you really think people would rush so willingly into baseball? No, because everyone would be so focused on what drugs this one did and they wouldn't bother to get back to the basics of loving baseball. Just live and let die. I don't know why he used him since he was talented without them, but that's something only he knows. Now, if he or another player that was busted using them used it again and got caught a second time, then there'd be no excuse.Ok, so the media metioned Kate hudson. Exactly what do she have to do with hating the Yankees? She's just dating a player on the Yankees. That's A-rod personal business but then again, celebrities don't really have much of a personal life, do they?
5) I can see why they talk about mystique and aura. They feel as though there's a sense of magic in their stadium, even though I've never felt it. I'm pretty sure you must have felt some sense of aura and mystique in your life from something, regardless if you were five or your current age. There's nothing wrong with it.
6) I wasn't around the whole entire time the Steinbrenners were head of the Yankee organization and I've heard some things they did were terrible, but I can't pass judgement on it because I don't know everything on them.
7) The media will always be in the Yankees face and in everyone elses. As a Mets fan, why should I be UNHAPPY about it? Would YOU want a bunch of cameras in your face everyday, constantly asking you questions about your life? What you do in your spare time? About your sucess and failures? Taking snap-shots of your insde life secretely and then posting it on every website, newspaper, and airing on every news channel on TV? Fame isn't everything.
8) There's no problem with getting new or better players. They never bought a championship OR a postseason berth. So sue them if they decide to strengthen their pitching or their offense. They can't do that! They're the Yankees! They have enough championships and wins! They're not allowed to win anymore! Let's make it so they'll never win again! Ridiculous. Yeah, we need pitching and offense. I don't believe we should try to led the NL in highest payroll and I agree we should try to build a dynasty. But, I'm not in charge.
9) I remember Roger Clemens did that. Yeah, it pissed me off, but just because one person on the Yankees did that doesn't mean all of them are jerks.
10) They represent what's wrong with baseball? Listen to yourself. You have SO much hatred over a team for NO reason. It's almost comical. They're not the "Evil empire". That's something some idiot came up with to bring more hype to the Yankee/Red sox rivalry (which is also pointless and a waste of time). And they have been humbled. They've been humbled since they lost the World Series in 2001. Well, the players have. Once again, I can't speak on the behalf of other Yankees fans because I like the Mets. Bad things have happened in the history of baseball. That doesn't mean that at the drop of a dime that Mets fans, Dodger fans, Rays fans or anyone else should blame them. What's next? Global warming? AIDS? The Black Plague? Swine Flu? Honestly, If I didn't know any better, I'd say you got sucked intp the hype and you're just looking for the perfect scapegoat for our 2009 season season. Don't worry, I'm sure things will get better in 2010. I'm hoping our injured players get better too. We have so much potential and I know they'll get better.
Why hate the Yankees and the Phillies? Well, as a Mets fan (or should I say "phony" because I just came to the defense of "The evil empire". Blasphemy! I'm going to hell because I stood up for them and I rooted for them in the 2009 Wolrd Series), I don't hate the Phillies, but I don't like them. They have a good team, but some of their players seem too arrogant. As for the Yankees, why do so many Mets fans and Yankee fans hate each other? Why? We're from the same freaking place! New York! It's in both team names. Just like the Giants and the Jets. We're practically blood brothers and it's amazing how a few short tempers, harsh words, and bad team member run-ins set off a silly rivalry. Look. I'm not saying you can't say bad thing about the Yankees and the Phillies because that's violating the 1st amendment and I have no right to tell you how you should feel. I'm simply saying, not everything you said about Yankee fans and Mets fans is true and all the hate and stereotyping isn't necessary.
